Reception

Our Learning Adventures

Magnificent Me!

This half-term, we are focusing on settling children into Broughton School. We will be getting to know our new routines, meeting new friends and learning the staff names. We will also start Little Wandle phonics and reading the wordless books. This half-term the children will be learning about their bodies and our senses. We will also be talking about our families, our feelings and what is special to us. We read these texts below and talk about how they make us feel. We have started drawing the characters and beginning to describe what we have drawn.

Focus Texts:

This is Me

The Rainbow Fish

Mr Big

Oh No George!

The Colour Monster

Phonics

We will continue to share with you via Arbour the sounds that we have been learning over the week.

Below you will find a copy of our sound mat that we use in our Phonics lessons and during free-flow play.

Learning Packs

The learning packs have a mix of resources that you can use to support your child with their learning at home. Here are some ideas of how to use your learning packs:

- Recognising numbers 1-10

- Sequencing the numbers (putting them in the right order)

- Recognise the dice numbers – without counting the spots

- Can you count forwards and backward to and from 20.

Other ideas you could practise at home:

- Recognise 2D shapes and find them in the environment. Did you walk past any shapes? Can you see any at home?

-Writing your name at home – starting letters at the right starting point

- Sound talk- get your c-oa-t, brush your t-ee-th, get your sh-oe-s, go to the c-a-r

- Initial sounds of objects (b-banana, c- car)

- Can they find the sound on the sound mat

-Can they count how many cars they see on their way to school? How many stairs are at home?
