Week beginning 21th June 2021
This week we are creating a story map of what we think the book is about. We are looking at the character Errol and what he may be doing with the plants that he is growing. We will be looking at the layout of a story and discuss the beginning, middle and the end.
This week we are learning about odd and even numbers. We will be sorting numbers to get on the bus.
Mrs. Cohen and Miss. Nash are revisiting phase 3 sounds, this is to focus on reading our sounds in texts and writing a sentence with these sounds in. This week we are focusing on: long and short oo sound, ar, or, ur. We are looking at creating sentences from a given picture. We are reading texts and spotting the sounds that we are focusing on.
Mrs. Legg and Mrs. Toon are looking at er and air sounds this week. They are continuing to play games to find the sounds and looking at reading these in words, words include: shower, boxer, fair, chaor. They are looking at writing words in pairs with the sounds in. The tricky words to please practise are: her and all.

Understanding the Word
Continue to label parts of the body that we know and talk about what they do.
Please listen to your child read their school reading book 5 times a week please sign and date each time in their yellow reading record. In the Summer term we ask that the children access Reading Eggs and Maths Seeds for 30 minutes over the week. Please can you write when they have done so in their yellow reading record. Reading regularly and frequently will support your children with developing sight reading as well as developing fluency when reading and help to practise their sounds.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. Cohen and Miss Nash
