We are very proud that we are developing a Forest School at Broughton Infant School, on the school site, from April 2019. The sessions will be run by Mrs Rachel Barradas who is completing her qualified Forest School Leader training.
The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences.
By participating in engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a woodland environment each participant has an opportunity to develop intrinsic motivation, together with sound emotional and social skills. These can be developed to reach personal potential.
Forest Schools has demonstrated success with children of all ages who visit the same local woodlands on a regular basis and through play, have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly, how to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. Forest School runs throughout the year, whatever the weather!
We are developing our woodland area in the school grounds. Children play, learn boundaries of behaviour, both physical and social, gain confidence, self-esteem and self-motivation.
Our children also attend the Hartwell Forest School, offsite, during the academic year to add to their experiences of outdoor learning.
