Welcome

Broughton Community Infant School

Welcome to our school website where we hope you will discover what makes our school special.

Our Infant school is two form entry (60 children) and accommodates Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children in a stimulating, well-resourced and spacious learning environment.  With only 180 pupils we have the added advantage of getting to know our children and parents well.  In accommodating the younger age range (4-7 year olds) we are able to tailor the school environment purely to the younger child's needs.  We are proud to be a popular and fully subscribed  school with our last OFSTED Inspection (June 2015) judging us at 'Good' overall with 'Outstanding' for behaviour and safety of pupils.

As a school we are particularly proud of our pupils' positive attitude to learning and our friendly caring environment.   As OFSTED noted, 'pupils are proud of their school' and 'they demonstrate a real enthusiasm for learning'.  We constantly strive to ensure that all our pupils meet their full potential: 'pupils of all abilities and from different backgrounds make good progress'.  We have a very committed team of staff and Governors who work closely together to do all we can to make our school a stimulating, exciting and safe place to be: 'the school's work to keep pupils safe and secure is outstanding' and 'the curriculum provides exciting opportunities for pupils to learn about the world around them as well as developing their literacy and numeracy skills effectively'.  We very much value our parents' support and the working relationship we have with them: 'parents hold the school in high regard'.

We enjoy co-operative and committed working relationships with Broughton Junior School, where most of our Year 2 pupils transfer to, and New Millside Pre-School, who share our school site and who provide a daily breakfast club for our pupils.

If you would like to come and visit us, please do contact the school office to arrange an appointment and we will ensure you receive a warm welcome.

With regards,

Mrs D Standage
